I'm Formatting My Illustrations and Story for a New Print Book

BY GARY SCOTT BEATTY, AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR, AAZURN PUBLISHING

I knew pulling Gods of Aazurn together for a printed book would be a bit of a task, but there were more snags than I anticipated.

The entire story has been posted in weekly chapters on my Gary Scott Beatty's Strange Horror blog and will end there July 29. We're screaming toward Armageddon!

You can catch the whole thing at Gary Scott Beatty's Strange Horror on Substack for a subscription. Or, just read the free, weekly chapters. Another story starts in August. Sign up here.

Formatting art and typography for a scroll-down, online weekly is completely different than formatting for a square-bound, printed book of well over 260 pages.

The new book will be in three sections: Gods of Aazurn, Gods of Aazurn: Witches, and Gods of Aazurn: Army of the Dead.

I planned ahead, sizing illustrations for print resolution, so it's not an impossible task to format, just time consuming.

Throw in a new computer, and updated software that costs significantly more but does exactly the same things as the old software, and this year has been challenging. (Old man yells at cloud.)

After formatting I hope to draw several full-page illustrations for the printed book as well. And I've planned a cover illustration that may be beyond my abilities -- we'll see!

Fingers crossed that the Gods of Aazurn collection will be ready for pre-order before the webcomic ends in July.
