Live music, Snow Queen event, early Michigan adventure tales, and library tour are at Hackley Public Library in November. Plus dance class, computer classes, crafts, story times for kids, LEGOs and coding, book club, and more. Also: Christmas kick off! Explore exciting events at your Hackley Public Library.

Do you love to dance or wish to learn? Master the moves from MADLOS (Muskegon Area Dance Lovers) and have fun with salsa during a free Latin Dance Class at Hackley Public Library! To register for this upbeat program, call HPL at (231) 722-8011 or visit hackleylibrary.org. Don’t miss this Latin dance class on Saturday, November 2 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. This event is free to the public and recommended for all ages.

Are you interested in computers, but don't know where to begin? Start at Hackley Public Library, where De'ondra Pentecost will teach Computer Classes on certain Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Registration is required for these free computer classes. To register, call HPL at (231) 722-8011 or visit hackleylibrary.org. Registration opens one month before each class date. Computer classes in November will be a Basic Intro to Computers on November 2, and an Intro to Word on November 16. Free to the public.

The art of book folding isn’t as tricky as it looks! This basic book folding class, with the book and pattern included, can get you on your way to create your own fun masterpiece. Registration is required for this free Hackley Craft of Book Folding Art, happening on Monday, November 4 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Call HPL at (231) 722-8011 or visit hackleylibrary.org to register. Join us at Hackley Public Library for Storytime, where we’ll enjoy themed stories, songs, movement activities, interactive apps, and a craft! Storytime events at HPL in November are November 7, 14, and 21 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. These events are free to the public and recommended for ages zero to five years old with a caregiver.

The Snow Queen is coming to Hackley Public Library and you are cordially invited to meet her! Born with magical powers, the Snow Queen comes from a land far away from where ice, snow, and sun are plentiful. She loves to share stories and crafts with any that come to meet her. This is a ticketed event and will incorporate a meet-and-greet as well as pictures with the Snow Queen. Tickets are free and will be available for pick up in the Hackley Public Library Youth Services Department starting October 24. This Once Upon a Princess event will occur on Saturday, November 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Party dress is definitely encouraged! Recommended for ages zero through 14.

Explore LEGOs and coding at Hackley Public Library! Visit with us for WeDo Mondays, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on November 11 and 25. We’ll have fun with these special kits, and instructors will be on hand to teach the group and guide individual learning. WeDo Mondays are free to the public and recommended for ages seven through 14.

Do you enjoy creative writing? Are you inspired by innovative thoughts and ideas? Become a part of Left to Write, HPL's own Creative Writing Group! Here you participate in exercises, share your own stories and meet other creative writers. This group will provide a low key atmosphere for writers of all experiences. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to tell your friends! Remember to bring paper and your favorite pen. Left to Write will meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., with November dates on the 13th and 27th. Free to the public.

Enjoy Stories, Songs, and Dances of the Voyageur! Learn about frontier history with an interactive performance from professional storyteller Ginot “Winter Elk” Picor. Follow the tale of an orphan from St. Denis, France who is recruited to work in the fur trade as an indentured servant and then departs on his adventure to the land of “Mitchigaamii.” You won’t want to miss this incredible event on Saturday, November 16 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hackley Public Library. This program is free to the public and recommended for all ages!

Dive into history and learn details about Hackley Public Library during an "After-Hours" Tour on Thursday, November 21! Visitors are asked to arrive at 4:45 p.m. to gather in HPL's lower level meeting rooms, and the tours will begin at 5:00 p.m. Please park in the rear parking lot as the front doors will be locked. These guided tours will be approximately one hour, and are free and open to the public. Call (231) 722-8000 with any questions!

Legal Rehab is back to perform at Hackley Public Library, bringing their amplified, acoustic classic rock/folk from the '60s to present – and Irish! This band features passionate playing and conversational interaction with the audience. Mark your calendar for incredible music at HPL from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26. This performance is free to the public and recommended for all ages!

We’re kicking off the holiday season in Muskegon! Enjoy festive lights, hot chocolate, meeting a friendly pair of reindeer, and photo opportunities with the jolly ol’ man himself. Visit with us on Saturday, November 30 in the late afternoon/evening for this spectacular experience. During this Hackley Park Christmas Tree Lighting and Reindeer occasion, events will take place in Hackley Park as well as Hackley Public Library.
