Greater Muskegon Woman’s Club Honors Women of Accomplishment May 16

The Women of Accomplishment event has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m. due to COVID-19.

Women of Accomplishment is in its 24th year of honoring local women for the work that they do – often behind the scenes and usually unsung – that change our community for the better. This year’s program will be held as a brunch on May 16 at 9:00 a.m. at the Greater Muskegon Woman’s Club.

The judges have met and out of the pool of nominees, selected two honorees for this year, Zaneta Adams, and Brianna Scott Grissom.

Zaneta Adams PFC, US Army Retired, Disabled Veteran CEO and Founder of WINC: For All Women Veterans

Zaneta served eight years in different components of the US Army and was medically retired in 2006. She was injured when she fell 11 feet from a deuce and half with the rails up, while serving in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. She graduated from Western Michigan Cooley Law School in May 2014 as a Distinguished law student for her class. She also received the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Award for 2014 and graduated with a concentration in General Litigation. She passed the Bar in February 2015 and among other things, she currently assists veterans with their compensation and pension appeals.

Zaneta is also an adjunct professor at Western Michigan Cooley Law School teaching Veterans Law. She is also the CEO and Founder of WINC: For All Women Veterans (Women Injured iN Combat). Since its 2014 inception, she championed for and was able to obtain a Muskegon Women Veterans Day as well as a House resolution passed for June 15, 2019 to be Women Veterans Recognition Day in the state of Michigan. Her organization provides: resource referrals; Military Sexual Trauma Support groups and retreats; Women Veterans Support groups and retreats; scholarships; volunteer opportunities for women veterans who would like to work, but cannot due to issues with PTSD; and a newly launched Military Sisterhood initiative in partnership with Challenge America, a National veteran resource non-profit organization whose co-founders are Amy Grant and Vince Gill. She is married with six children (two sets of twins).

Some other accomplishments include two-time Athena Award nominee; MI African American Leadership Award Nominee; member of the MI Women Veterans Advisory board; the Greater Muskegon Woman’s Club; Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce Muskegon; and more.

Zaneta was a member of the Black Women’s Political Caucus of Muskegon from 2016 through 2019 and is the corresponding secretary for the Muskegon Black Caucus.

Brianna Scott Grissom

In her role as a Delta Sigma Theta Brianna is part of many major events to help the community, especially girls, women, and families. She is always part of something positive happening in the city.

Brianna is involved in many community events. She currently serves on the Michigan State University Board of Trustees. She is a member of the local and national Rotary Club. She supports many area non-profit organizations with both her time and money.

Currently, Brianna serves on the Boards for Access Health, Boys and Girl’s Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore, Panel One of the Michigan Attorney Disciplinary Commission (County of Muskegon); and is also a member of the Muskegon Rescue Mission’s Personnel Committee. Ms. Scott is also the Chair of the Muskegon Rotary Club’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Retention Committee and serves as the Co-Chair for the Life Leadership Committee and the Community Service Council.

Always a go-getter, Brianna leaves nothing behind or undone. She is an accomplished attorney and simply a very nice person. One of her current interests is purchasing real estate with a plan to help expand downtown.
